3D Canvas Modes for Graphical Sequencer

The Graphical Sequencer tab has three modes that you can use when interacting with the data in the 3D Canvas. The name and icon for each mode is displayed in the Modes pane at the left of the tab. To change between modes, click the mode you want to use.

Orbit

Use Orbit mode to pan and change the orientation of the image in the 3D canvas.

To rotate the view, click and hold the left mouse button while moving the cursor on the canvas.

To zoom in and out, click and hold the right mouse button and move the cursor over the canvas. If your mouse has a mouse wheel, to zoom in and out you can also roll the wheel.

To pan, click and hold both mouse buttons and move the cursor over the canvas. If your mouse has a mouse wheel or middle button, to pan you can also hold down the middle mouse button or wheel, and move the cursor over the canvas.

Note: If you are in Select or Add mode and want to rotate, pan, or zoom, but do not want to cancel the selection, hold ALT to enable Orbit mode temporarily and then release ALT when you want to continue your selection.

Select

You use Select mode to select polygons or objects for which you would like to see the cumulative data in the charts or reports. The polygons or objects you select are highlighted red in the 3D Canvas.

To see the data for multiple polygons or objects, you can drag a box over the polygons or objects, or hold CTRL and click the polygons or objects.

If you have multiple polygons or objects selected and want to remove only some of the polygons or objects from the selection, you can hold SHIFT and click the polygons or objects you want to remove from the selection.

If you have started a selection and want to discard all of the polygons or objects that are selected, you can press ESC or click in a blank area of the 3D Canvas.

Note: If you are in Select mode and want to rotate, pan, or zoom, but do not want to cancel the selection, hold ALT to enable Orbit mode temporarily and then release ALT when you want to continue your selection.

Add

You use Add mode to define the sequence of the polygons or objects.

In Add mode, you can select each polygon or object in turn in the 3D canvas. Each polygon or object you add is annotated with the sequence number, and the colour of the polygon or object is changed.

The charts and reports are updated to show quantities and qualities of the selected polygons or objects. You can select a potential polygon or object for the sequence, view the result in the charts and reports, and then decide whether to keep the polygon or object in this place in the sequence.

If you do not want to keep the polygon or object in the sequence, you can remove it by selecting it again in the 3D Canvas. You can also decide not to keep polygons or objects you selected earlier in the sequence by selecting them again in the 3D Canvas. For example if your sequence was 8;9;10;11 you could select item 9 to remove it from the sequence, giving a new sequence of 8;10;11.

While you are creating the sequence it is displayed in the Sequence field directly above the 3D canvas. The sequence is defined by the polygon or object numbers separated by semicolons. The GEOVIA Surpac range format using comma separators is not supported in this field.

The sequence is also displayed and updated in a data grid.

Note: If you are in Add mode and want to rotate, pan, or zoom before you choose the next location, hold ALT to enable Orbit mode temporarily and then release ALT when you want to continue to select face locations.
